Video Poker Return Calculator

Summary

This calculator lists the expected return of a bonus and chance of a positive return. You can use this calculator to help select a bet size or check if your results were within normal expectations. The four inputs are bonus, wagering, bet size, and hands. For a $100 bonus with a wagering requirement of $4000, set bonus to 100 and wagering to 4000. To check variance and expected return for play without bonuses, leave the bonus at 0, and set wagering to the amount you intend to wager. "Bet size" is the bet size per hand. If you were playing 100-play a total bet of $5, the bet size per hand would be .05 . Set bet size to .05 and hands to 100. After entering the four values, click "Calculate."

*This calculator assumes Microgaming pay tables. The chance of gain result is the chance of ending above the deposit balance with unlimited bankroll (not including the chance of busting prior to completing wagering). Information on risk of busting will be added to the site in the future. Chance of gain approximates return as a normal distribution. However, the actual distribution of video poker return does not appear like a true normal curve until reaching enough hands to hit a royal flush. A return graph of 4000 hands of JoB is here and a graph of 4000 hands of All Aces is here. Note that the JoB graph shows two humps -- one for if you hit a royal flush, and one for if you do not.
